arper's Tire
(1931) Ltd. has a long history of serving customers. How did it all
begin? The following is a brief excerpt of our history from the birth of
our founder all the way to the present day.
April 23
1898 - John Munro Skinner Harper was born.
1912 - J.M. Harper emigrated to Calgary, from Scotland with his
family.
1914 - J.M. as well as his father George and brothers George Jr. William
and James enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army serving in France.
1919 - Upon discharge, J.M. was offered post-service education and opted
to take the vulcanizing course offered.
1920 - J.M. was hired by George Lancaster to work with Fisk Tire.
Nov. 15
1931 - J.M. left Fisk Tire and purchased Foster's vulcanizing located on
130 - 12th Ave. S.W., Calgary. He changed the name to Harper's
Tire Service. The telephone number was 7878, becoming M7878,
AM7878 and finally 262-7878
