1931 - 1940
During
this period, J.M. added to the equipment to be able to provide
more Vulcanizing for Repairs and Retreading, 3 more lots were
added and a new building was built in 1940.

1940 - 1945
During the war
years, tires were rationed, so satisfactory repairs were necessary
and custom retreading became a necessity. In 1945 another addition
was made to the building to house the new retread molds and a
basement for storage of materials and products.

1945 - 1961
This period saw a continuation of growth
in the business of servicing more large and small fleets, farm
tires, construction tires and over the highway truck tires. Retreading
was an important part of the business one large contract being
the city transit system. In 1961, J.M. Harper retired, the tire
business was combined with Harper's Hardware and Jack, Don
and Stan , his three sons became partners. At this time the
gasoline pumps were removed and a new show room was constructed
on the front of the property.
